The sculpture in the station square in Göttingen represents civil courage and the development of liberalism in Germany. The sculpture by Christiane Möbus corresponds in size and material to the monument of King Ernst August in front of Hanover's main railway station - but without an equestrian statue - and inscribed: "The Father of the Country, His Seven of Göttingen" with the names of the seven teachers and the artist. The plinth without a ruler is a monument to citizen sovereignty, freedom and democracy.
